Hoover City Schools Increases Focus on Cybersecurity with Addition of ThreatAdvice

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, August 5, 2019 – Hoover City Schools ( www.hoovercityschools.net) has engaged NXTsoft ( www.nxtsoft.com) for virtual chief information security officer services for the school system. NXTsoft’s ThreatAdvice vCSIO solution will augment the system’s current cybersecurity efforts and provide oversight in the areas of governance, compliance management, assurance services and policies and procedures management. ThreatAdvice vCISO will perform ongoing exercises to test and evaluate Hoover City Schools’ cybersecurity protocol providing actionable intelligence should any weaknesses be discovered.  Should Hoover City Schools experience any type of cyber event, ThreatAdvice vCISO is on standby to offer breach response services to minimize any disruption that could occur.

School systems have been a target of cyber criminals of late, with one Alabama school system having to delay its start date due to the repercussions of a cyber attack.

Hoover City School’s approximately 3000 employees already utilize ThreatAdvice Cybersecurity Education and Awareness, micro-learning modules and phishing simulations that equip employees with the knowledge and tools necessary to be a first line of defense against cyber attacks.

“Hoover City Schools is fully committed to protecting our students, our employees and our data,” said Bryan Phillips, CTO for Hoover City Schools. “In today’s environment cybersecurity is very high priority and we believe our partnership with NXTsoft and the utilization of ThreatAdvice vCISO will ensure that we are proactive about taking the highest precautionary measures to prevent a breach event,” he said.

“Hoover City Schools’ decision to commit to additional resources to prevent a cyber event is the right one,” said David Brasfield, CEO of NXTsoft. “Cyber breaches are rampant, and the aftereffects can be extremely costly from both monetary and exposure perspectives. NXTsoft is excited to be working with Hoover City Schools to augment their ongoing security efforts,” he said.
